Water Concert is a collaboration between sound artists Juha Valkeapää and Juhani Liimatainen, and lighting and video artist Pietu Pietiäinen. Starting point: All the water on Earth has been here always, for 4,5 billion years. Water connects everything: people to people and to other living and non-living creatures. Everything is water and from water.
In Water Concert we play water with body, electronics, gong, and various found objects. We bubble and make crooked rhythms and loops. We don’t tell stories about water. We imagine, dream, and listen, with water. Water Concert is a hymn for water, the foundation of all life.
The duration of Water Concert is one hour. All sounds and images are created live. The audience floats – on the floor, on mattresses, carpets, sun chairs, or bean bags. The sound encloses the audience and water is reflected onto the ceiling of the space.
Water Concert premiered by the Baltic Sea, in June, 2022.
